Kingyo-an is a Kanazawa townhouse café located on the outskirts of the Kanazawa’s largest former geisha district, the Higashi Chaya District. The “Taisho-Roman-Kissa,” a teahouse inspired by those from the Taisho era (1912-1926) will take you back in time just as if you’ve stepped into a time machine. The food, confectionery and drink recipes on the menu are inspired by and reproduced from the Taisho era. Leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy some quiet time travel.
Kingyo-an was named after the mysterious red kingyo (goldfish) Akago from Saisei Muro's fantasy novel "Mitsu no Aware - Bitter Honey“. Why not look for your own Akago hidden in the Kingyo-an.
Welcome to Kingyo-an, a home of kingyo.
